| When we saw this kit we just about freaked. Grow your own desserts? What could be more wonderful than that? Ty planned a Donut Farm; Willie wanted to grow some Twinkie Trees; and Fraize couldn't wait to plant a Cheesecake Bush. Then someone told us that we actually had a kit to grow a d-e-s-e-r-t, not a d-e-s-s-e-r-t (apparently that extra "s" really makes a difference). We all felt pretty silly, and don't tell anyone, but Ty cried a bit.
Once we accepted reality, we realized how cool a desert was. There are cacti and weird-but-hip trees and scary animals. This kit leaves out the scary animals, so we all can enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of the desert without having to worry about scorpions, tarantulas, and whales. Within a week, you should be seeing sprouts. Since there are over 20 kinds of plants in the seed packets, it all depends on who wants to grow first - but all the seeds will germinate in 1-6 weeks. Because you are growing a desert, you rarely have to water it (every six months will do it). Keep your plants in their hothouse and they'll stay small; replant them and they can grow bigger. The Desert Hothouse rocks (and it comes with some). Too bad this kit won't grow Ice Cream Sundae Shrubs - that's what Alan wanted.
