Our Ant Farms are actually Antquariums specially developed from NASA technology. They were created to study and understand the development of animal life without gravity. In May 2000. Space Shuttle STS 107 orbited the earth with Antquariums on board. The transparent gel allowed NASA scientists to observe and study during space flight. What's more, the gel's special properties ensured that it did not compress and crush the ants under the immense g forces to take off.
Antquariums are a great educational and fun gift for children, adults, ages 6 to 99! Ants found in the backyard or garden can be placed in the Antquarium. Once in the antfarm, the ants will create a series of incredible tunnels in the gel allowing their fascinating behaviour to observed thanks to the transparency of the gel.
Our Ant Farms are complete habitats. The gel is both the ant's house and their food! It is not advisable to overfill the Ant Farm with ants, or to add different species of ants or other insects as they will die. Please do not insert objects into the container.Be careful when handling ants as some species can bite.
The Gel is non-toxic. Antquariums are suitable for children ages 6+.
