| Anti-gravity is real! This ingenious top is able to levitate in mid-air by harnessing the lifting power of two opposed, permanent magnets and is stabilized in space by the gyroscopic effect spinning produces. It is made possible by the use of very recently developed neodymium iron boron magnets.
The sleek design has built-in leveling feet, and all parts store easily and conveniently by attaching to the underside of the base.
The Omega includes a floating top, black magnetic base, assortment of adjustable weights, clear plastic lifter cover, adjustable leveling legs, instruction sheet, and a Levitron physics guide. The base is 6.5" wide and 3" high (with the lifting plate). Does not use batteries or AC power.
The Omega may also be combined with the Perpetuator (see below) for a display of continual levitation! Also see the Levitron Starter below.
NOTE: The Levitron has two critical adjustments that may take you awhile to set correctly. First, the base must be perfectly level. This is achieved by spinning the top and seeing which direction it flies off the base. You move the adjustable feet to compensate and then repeat this procedure until the base is level. The second adjustment is the amount of weight rings you put on the top. Too much weight and the top won't lift off the base and too little weight causes it to fly off to one side. Just the right amount of weight causes it to levitate above the base. Very cool! |
